Security
and Protection
IT Keeper Online
Backup secures your data through encryption. Not even IT
Keeper staff can read the data stored within our secure facility.
For the technically
minded, IT Keeper Online Backup provides what is referred to as
variable key encryption. This simply means that each client
encrypts their data using a key phrase chosen by the client not
us. Most importantly, all data is encrypted before any
transfer takes place.

security of data in transit, consideration must also be made regarding

File
Selection
IT Keeper Online
Backup ensures that new files are added automatically by constantly
revaluating the file system, adding files from the defined directory to
the backup as needed.
Compression
IT Keeper Online
Backup is able to compress files up to 75% of their original
size. This will allow the majority of our clients to store
more data than the total storage amount specified for each
plan. For example, if you have 1Gb data that requires storage
and this can be compressed to 50% of its original size, only 500Mb of
storage space will be used. Please note that if you are
backing up images, movie files or previously compressed data a lower
rate of compression will be available.
Data Restoration
IT Keeper Online Backup allows you to retrieve any previously stored
file at any time by simply logging on to your account from your
computer and recovering your files using our online restore
wizard. Files can be restored individually unlike other
offerings.
Redirect
Restoration
Our service will allow
you to redirect the restoration of files to a new location.
This feature is useful for testing the backup restore process, and well
as in the event a total loss.
File Search
IT Keeper Online
Backup provides the ability to search any existing backup sets for the
most recent version of a file. This allows you to maintain
control of file versions easily.
Disaster
Recovery
Upon installation IT
Keeper Online Backup will prompt for the creation a recovery
disk. This disk will store your encryption key and other
important information allowing you to retrieve your information even if
your physical hardware has been destroyed.
System
Requirements
IT Keeper Online
Backup operates on Windows 95, 98, NT, XP, ME, 2000, and
2003. If you are a Mac or a Linux user, the best alternative
is to copy the files you require to be backed up to a Windows based
machine on your network.
