Focus Based Management (FBM) was founded in
1987 has two directors – Keith Cleland and Trevor Watters.
Keith’s background includes management
consulting with an international consulting group, 12 years as Professor,
Accounting and Business Studies, currently Adjunct Professor, Financial
Management in an international MBA program in conjunction with faculty
from Universities of Oxford, Brussels, Louvain, Berlin and London Business
School. As consultant to the accounting profession for the past 24 years,
his work has been instrumental in providing cost effective solutions for
the underlying problems of business clients, with turnovers ranging from
$100k to $1bn. His qualifications include BA, MA, PhD, Dip Ed, FCPA, MACE.
Trevor’s background includes managing
partner of an accounting practice, with a growing personal involvement in
designing software systems, leading to the design of the first taxation
software in Australia prior to establishing a software company
specialising in systems for the accounting profession. His qualifications
include B.Bus, ACPA.
In 1987, Keith’s
concepts combined
with Trevor’s business software skills to develop the DOS version of
Practician. Launched in 1989 and used by accountants to diagnose and
resolve key problems impacting business clients, the Practician has been
installed in some 600 sites, primarily in Australia.
The windows version TARI for
Business™ has been developed for use by business, in response to
a growing demand for software incorporating the same concepts with less
technicality, greater flexibility and a more user friendly interface.
